KCBA Housing Justice Project
Justice Services
KCBA Housing Justice Project provides free legal aid to households at risk of eviction and during the eviction process at Court. Tenants can visit the Pre-Eviction clinic at the Downtown Library for counsel and advice from an attorney or receive representation to settle a potential eviction to avoid having a case filed, get assistance with reasonable accommodations, deal with landlord harassment and poor living conditions, and access rental assistance or other service referrals. LCSNW Victim Advocacy provides free and confidential advocacy services to victims, survivors, loved ones, and witnesses of traumatic events. We provide these services regardless of whether or not the incident was reported to law enforcement or is being prosecuted. Victim advocacy offers support, information and referral to resources, and specific wrap-around support so people can make informed and empowered decisions.

Maddie's Place provides medical care in a nurturing environment for substance-exposed infants, together with loving, wraparound support for their caregivers. Maddie's Place is a free-standing recovery nursery for babies experiencing withdrawal due to prenatal substance exposure. We provide high quality, holistic, multi-disciplinary medical and non-medical care for infants with prenatal substance exposure (also known as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) and wraparound support for their parents/caregivers. Our comprehensive model of care brings babies safely through their withdrawal, facilitates early bonding whenever possible, offers hope and support to parents struggling with substance abuse, strengthens families, improves early intervention, and helps mitigate the long-term effects suffered by children with in-utero substance exposure.
